01 — Personal Statement

A personal experience. A larger public question.

The following statement is presented in Mr. Joseph Renwick Randon’s own voice. His case remains pending. The initiative distinguishes personal account, documented fact, and questions requiring independent review.

I am Joseph Renwick Randon, and Fort Bend County is not simply where I live—it is where much of my story began. I grew up here, played basketball for B.F. Terry High School, and carried that journey forward through entrepreneurship, SoundWater, Geobody® Sense Fitness, Court of Life™, and Big Prayer Museum™.

My case remains pending, and I respect due process. I am not asking the public to decide my case or accept my beliefs as established facts. I am asking for transparency.

This initiative asks a larger question: when someone believes a system has treated them unfairly, how do we document what happened, invite independent review, distinguish evidence from assumptions, and identify what can be improved?

Those are questions—not conclusions.

I am Joseph Renwick Randon, and Fort Bend County is not simply where I live—it is where much of my story began.

I grew up here through Bowie Elementary, Jane Long, Huggins, George Junior High and B.F. Terry High School. I had the privilege of playing basketball for Terry and being part of its first district championship. I later carried that journey forward through sports, entrepreneurship, SoundWater, Geobody® Sense Fitness, Court of Life™, and Big Prayer Museum™—always returning to one purpose: improving humanity.

That is why my recent arrest at my own home has caused me to ask deeper questions about the community and justice system I have known throughout my life.

My case remains pending, and I respect due process. I am not asking the public to decide my case or accept my beliefs as established facts. I am asking for transparency.

As a Black man, I believe we must honestly examine racial injustice and the historical experiences of Black and Brown people within our institutions. But I also believe the questions can go further.

Can economic interests influence injustice? Can reputation, property, business interests, relationships or institutional assumptions affect how someone is treated? Can a narrative about a person become embedded within a system and influence later decisions? And when someone believes this has happened, how do we independently determine what is true?

Those are questions—not conclusions.

I am willing to place my own experience, history and actions under examination as part of seeking answers.

And I especially invite people inside the system—current or former law-enforcement officers, attorneys, court professionals, public employees and administrators—along with civil-rights organizations, journalists, researchers, community leaders and citizens to help.

This is my home. These are my questions. But the purpose is larger than me.

Not Black against White. Not citizen against police. Humanity working with humanity to identify what needs correction and build something better for the next generation.
